Sensor Enclosure for Warehouse Robot

Designed a camera and sensor enclosure for an autonomous mobile warehouse robot to improve navigation capability.

  • Created cast metal and sheet metal pieces using SolidWorks from scratch to house various electronic components, ensuring accessibility and optimal placement for maintenance and repair.
  • Constructed custom 80/20 frame to ensure maximum structural stability during operation under the expected extreme conditions.
  • Created easy-to-assemble structure to allow for higher volume and more efficient delivery.

Skills: SolidWorks CAD, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Mechanics-Based Design.

Stress Testing Platform for Warehouse Robot

Created a platform to test the endurance of an autonomous mobile robot over a continuous 30-day period to determine its fatigue life and ensure its reliability.

  • Designed a durable sheet metal pattern with minimal joints and the ability to bolt to the floor to allow for greatest rigidity during operation.
  • Used off-the-shelf rollers with high endurance limit to maximise safety factor.
  • Adjustable stoppers to allow testing of robots with larger wheelbase.
